Standing for Zvandiri Youth Group
In our Youth Group we meet every last weekend of the month. We do a lot of things when we meet.
We meet at Zvandiri House in Avondale. We meet with the people who are at age of 18 years old and above. We will be discussing many topics. At Zvandiri house we will be all boys and girls who are living with HIV.
When we meet at Zvandiri House we will be discussing that we are very special and we are proud of ourselves. And we can stay long drinking our ARVs. If I’m positive that does not mean that it is the end of the world, and if I take my ARVs every day I will stay long. And I know that there is not a difference between me and a person who has no HIV. We are just the same.
We meet both boys and girls. Some of the days we will be discussing about that it is easy to go with a guy who is not infected with HIV. Some will be saying yes and some no. We will be talking that we can survive many years if we are drinking our ARVs. Yes we can go to work even though we are positive. And we can be married and we can have our own families.
We will be discussing about things that will happen in life, like stigma and discriminating. We talk about changeable and unchangeable things in life. We can have long life if we drink our ARVs properly.
When we finish discussing topics we go to lunch. We eat different foods every month we meet. When we are at Zvandiri house we talk our problems to our aunt and they give us some advice and they give us counselling.
Also we will be having fun at Zvandiri House at Avondale. We will be playing many games like soccer, boys v girls, volleyball, netball. We will be running around the house. We will be playing, playing cards, chess and so many other things.
When we end the meeting we will be given some money for transport to go back home. We go back home and come back to the Youth Group next month.
All the children at Zvandiri House we need some help. We have many programs we want to do at Zvandiri House if we need a help.
We are proud of ourselves and we are special. To be HIV positive does not mean it is the end of the road.
Thank you
